A sacred crescent-shaped glacial lake at 3,590m on the Amarnath Yatra route, ringed by six glaciers. The reflections of surrounding peaks in its still waters are legendarily beautiful.
How to Reach Pahalgam
By Air
Fly to Srinagar Airport (SXR) then drive 2.5–3 hours to Pahalgam (96km). The route passes through Anantnag and Bijbehara, with beautiful valley views throughout.
By Road
National Highway 44 connects Srinagar to Pahalgam. Taxis and shared cabs are available from Srinagar's Transport Hub at Lal Chowk. JKSRTC buses run daily.
Local Transport
Within Pahalgam, ponies are the main mode of transport to distant meadows like Baisaran and Chandanwari. Autos and jeeps cover the main town. Walking is pleasant along the riverfront.
